Matthew Hunt BMus (HONS) QTS
Matthew graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff in 2003 with a Bachelor Of Music degree with Honours, Specialising in composition, conducting, Orchestration and music of the 19th Century.
He returned to Cardiff the following year to study a postgraduate diploma in composition and Musical Direction with world-renowned composers such as Professors Anthony Powers and Richard Elfyn-Jones.
Following these qualifications. Matthew has composed many major works, such as three musicals, a piano concerto, 4 orchestral overtures, a Requiem Mass and Several Suites of contemporary music. He has frequently conducted the premiere Performances, his works as an orchestrator, composer and arranger have been performed in the UK, New Zealand, America and throughout Europe.
Matthew has worked with Some Of the world’s leading artists, including the Cardiff based 'PM orchestra', the South Wales Symphony Orchestra, West-End star Peter Karrie (Les Misérables and Phantom Of the Opera) New Zealand Tenor Will Martin And the international tenor Wynne Evans (famous for his appearances on the GO Compare" adverts).
Matthew has been the Music Director of the Ebbw Vale Male Voice Choir for 14 years.
He is past Musical Director of the Blaenau Gwent Chorale, the Merthyr
based Italian Choir, and is frequently guest-conductor With the Hereford Gilbert and Sullivan Operatic Society. He is also Musical Director Of Tredegar Operatic Society; recent productions for which he was Musical Director include: Jekyll and Hyde, Jesus Christ Superstar, the Welsh premiere Of A Tale of Two Cities, and Singing in the Rain, which have won several national awards. After Spending 5 years as a restaurant General Manager. Matthew began his career in 2008. He is past Head of Music and Head of years 10 and 11 at Kingstone High School in Hereford, and is currently Head Of Music at King Henry VIII Comprehensive School in Abergavenny.
In November 2011. Matthew was honoured to be invited to the Royal Albert Hall in London to receive the national Award from Classic FM ‘Music Teacher of the year'.
